Hartke Kilo bass head

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Sparky Mark, Apr 23, 2009.

  1. Does anyone know when this amp is going to be available please? I've seen details on the Samson and Hartkesystems Myspace for months, but I don't think a single unit has hit the UK yet. Is it available in the US already? If anyone has tried one, how was it?

When i called Samson for the information, they are telling everyone mid or late August
I think it will be September and it will be a limited run ,the $899 price tag will soon be raised when they discover the popularity of the product. I will order mine maybe next month.

Where are you seeing it for only $899? The lowest price I've seen is $999...

It is $999 sorry for the confusion, that was my price a music store was going to give it to me for.

bass merchant has got it listed at £799

  6. Several shops are advertising the Kilo, but who's gonna buy one without trying or a single independant review? At £799 (us$1200) this is no impluse buy! Looks like it'll be 4 months minimum before we can see one. I wonder if Hartke have had problems funding the manufacture of the Kilo? It seems a little strange that they have been promoting this amp for so long already and they are still a long way off.

  7. BUMP!!!

So whats the deal with this amp?? On zounds there are some ratings but no reviews. All in all it scored an 8 out of 10, while the LH 1000 scored a 10 out of 10.

Hmmmm.... anyone hear or play through one of these yet??

last I heard was that the dates do keep getting pushed back for whatever reason but that it is gonna be a mothership of an amp.

....will give a call to the Mystic Seer to see when we can expect to see the KILO

well, here's the answer I got back from the Mystic Seer....

there have been design revisions and making sure they got it right the first time has been priority, with that said, it is expected to be available in August. and:

"The Kilo should set a new standard for features and performance and it will deliver it's 1000 watts into 2,4 or 8 ohms. It's a monster!"

  11. cant wait. the genz benz GBE 750 may have some competition....

  12. Picked up a new LH1000 cheap (£299) and gonna put a Sansamp VT Bass pedal in front which should do nicely until the Kilo gets my GAS going again. However, the LH1000 + 410HX + 115HX is an awsome rig with massive volume and tone, the Kilo will need to be pretty damn special to beat it!

  13. If you can get the same tone with the Kilo as the LH, just with more features and eq section.... Im already sold!!!!

yep. Can NOT WAIT to get my hands on a KILO..... the thing has everything plus the kitchen sink. Really love my LH500 but hey, the bells and whistles on the KILO are just way too tempting :D

    :bassist::bassist::bassist:

besides, then it would really give me a reason to get an HX115

    :smug:

  15. besides, then it would really give me a reason to get an HX115

    or two.....or four?

I'm hoping the overdrive section on the Kilo is tube driven rather than solid state as used in the Hydrive combos and the bass attack pedal. It's got 2 tubes after all.

It's gonna weigh a ton, with a massive torroid for the ss output, plus the valve section it may be a bit too bulky/ heavy for me, the LH1K is already about as heavy as I want to go. Shame they can't cram all those features into 2U package, but I'm guessing the 3U is pretty densly populated.

In the UK it looks like the KIlo will sell around £750 where the LH1K is around £350, which is a big difference, with which you could buy a Dave Hall VT1 EQ Bass Drive (£149) and/or the SanSamp VT Bass pedal for overdriven tones and more mid EQ control.

In Czech republic it will cost about 1000 dollars. One shop is already offerring it and the delivery time is four days!!! Is it possible? People here say that it is not available in US, so how could it be available in Czech?

Doba dodání (dny) = delivery time (days)
    Looks great!

  17. I don't think four days is honest. They'll take your cash and earn interest on it for the next few months, and one day far away you may see your Kilo.

For all of you looking for the infamous "Kilo" , word from Samson is it is on delay.
They said maybe by the end of the year, i say maybe next year if ever.
My thoughts are that the "LH series" are doing fairly well for them , and if the Kilo comes out it would slow sales for the LH. The LH 1000 will most likely see the most drop, the 500 not so much . Lastly is it the economy that is the blame for this action.

Good point. Doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Frankly, I was surprised to learn that they were considering the release of another head with a power rating similar to that of the LH1000 in the first place.

Perhaps more market-savvy heads have prevailed. As a manufacturer, the last thing one would ever want to do is to cannibalize sales of any item from one's existing product line... :meh:

  20. I think Hartke have a problem. In the UK I purchased a new LH1K for £299 ($480) a few months back. Hartke are known for high specification low price equipment in the UK and at around £800 ($1280) the Kilo is moving them into another market slot where they have many strong competitors with more prestigious images (GK, GB, Markbass, Ampeg, etc). It may not be a great idea to try a move into this market during the worst global recession for two generations, and to keep the price reasonable Hartke would need to invest in serious production quanitities which could hang around for months or even longer. I can't believe that the Kilo would sound appreciably better than my LH1K with my VT bass pedal which cost £450 total, and is more compact (although still pretty heavy).
