Hartke...MX series?

  1. Hey everybody,

I was searching around for a used bass cab when I stumbled upon a Hartke 4x10 for $300 CDN. I asked the owner what series it was, and he said MX. I tried doing a search on it, but couldn't really come up with anything. Just wondering if anybody has one, or information on one of these cabs. Pics would be greatly appreciated too. By the way, do you think this is a good deal? Thanks in advance.

  2. Holy Cow! I have one of these and I have never heard anyone else utter the words before. I could not find a darn thing on the internet about these but here's what I know.

Mine has four 10" transient attack paper cones.
Also has one small driver in center (don't know what size)
    Cab is rated at 200W@8ohms
Sound is adequate but not great.
Good reproduction of mid-highs but not great at lows.
Mine cleans up when I put a 50hz filter on it.
I paid $250 american but if I did it again I wouldn't pay more than $200.

Overall I like the cab but I am looking to upgrade soon.
  3. Thanks for the info MuzikMan. Just a few more questions:
-How is the colouring of the sound? (mid heavy, scooped, etc)
    -Got any pics?

    Thanks again.
  4. I would describe the sound to be mid heavy with a crisp high end. I actually unplugged the tweeter but I have to warn you that I have an EMG loaded MIM Jazz special. This bass kind of sounds that way anyway. I am seriously contemplating selling it to pick up a 2x12 cab. I think this setup would better suit my bass and fingerstyle rock grooves. I think the 4x10 is too punchy for me.
  5. Sorry I can't post pics yet
