Has anyone here defretted an Ibanez BTB?

    I like the fretted version, definitely one of the best basses at that price point. I'm in need of an inexpensive 5-string fretless right now, and I'm thinking of getting a BTB405 and defretting it - has anyone else done this? Does it sound good as a fretless?

    I wouldn't want a fretless with a rosewood fingerboard- it would get ripped up pretty quickly.

    I didn't "defret" my BTB1005, it's factory fretless (I think, not the original owner). It's rosewood that has "Rub-on-Poly" applied, TI Jazz Flats. I haven't seen any major wear in a year of use. Ibanez PUPs and pre, not Bart.

  4. I am in a similar situation... I just contacted some people that say they have done this several times. I've seen some of their work and it seems great to me. I want to defret my Ibanez SR 506 but I am terribly afraid... what should I DEFINITELY know before going for it?
