That's how I view it too. It used to be that bands had to go out and play to audiences and gather a following. "MTV", and the "Stock, Aiken, Waterman" type producers made it possible for anyone to have a hit record, regardless of their live performances (some of them didn't even sing on their own records). I hope the Internet may actually change this trend, as any band can get their music heard if they're good enough. In answer to the question: Music is infinite - there maybe only 12 notes, but there's millions of ways to mix them up.
