I work at the library, and I listen to headphones all the time. I just bought Beck's Midnight Vultures and I'm rockin' it and where I need to be is next to some girl who's looking at books, she's a pretty girl (but I'm spoken for) but the song "Debra" was playing. :D For those of you who don't know, that's Becks song where he sings high falcettos and sings, "I wanna get wit you girl... and your sister." I was right next to her, and it was loud, so I'm sure she could hear it. :p I wanted to laugh.

The only other example I can currently thinking of, my girlfriend wanted some "make out music" while we were... you know. The only thing I had that wasn't sterotype porn music that I could think of was Muse's Showbiz. When Muscle Museum came on and started with that bassline, for some reason it was hilarious and we both laughed.

It is hard to explain to my co-workers that I listen to a variety of music, one day's music is usually radically different from anothers. One day it will be Fishbone or Primus and the next it could be the Beatles or Sabbath.

sitting on the back of the bus listening to some Led Zep...

No Quarter comes on my boombox and half way through this kid John Polianna laughs at me and points out I should go buy some new batteries because mine were going dead...

 the song sounded great, I think the effects on the tune confussed him.

BTW: "Debra" is in my top 10 greatest tunes of all time!!! my favorite Beck disc too

  6. I was on the school bus one time, and I was listening to Smashing Pumpkins-Zero. You know the breakdown where he says "God is empty, just like me." I said that part right as our bus driver was talking about how we needed to be calm when bording the bus.

I was makin' out with this chick in my car that I hooked up with at a show my band played at the time. INXS's need you tonight was on the radio while we were making out. It was a really cool sound track to make out to if you ask me. So I very smoothly made a point of it to her. She then says to me, "you're like, really deep huh." :rollno: If she wasn't so hot I would have drivin her home right then.

I started singing the words to an Our Lady Peace song once, on the bus at 7:30 in the morning when no one was talking. I guess I'm good at singing, cause when my friend slapped me in the back of the head to stop, everyone was looking at me.

Only with the ladies. Here's a basic rundown:

Her:I like Good Charlotte, they are like, so aweome. In fact, I like all punk rock. What do you listen to?

Me:*Cough* Melodic death metal. Oh, and Avante-Garde metal too.

    Her:

    *Long, noisless pause*

    Me:Yeah, it sure is.

Now, the trick is to find someone who accepts my musical taste, once I've got that, I'm set.

Yes. Whenever someone aside from my brothers ride in the car. Everyone else just looks at me in obvious discomfort.

...Cryptopsy is not for all company, I guess.

Try explaining to a who asks "What are you listening to?" The the band is called Dying Fetus, or A.C., or Goreguts. Just doesn't work out so well.

Same deal. Most people are appauled by those bands, plus many more... BTBAM, DEP, End This Day, etc etc....

One band no one ever knows about, but always likes when i play it in my car is The Mars Volta.

Death Metal saved me from pot smoking hippies in my room. My roomates threw a party and for some reason MY ROOM became the pot smoking room :spit: I don't smoke so this pissed me off. It was a 50s party so I threw off the "Best of the Oldies" and threw on Crytopsy or Cannibal Corpse or Napalm Death or something of that nature and the hippies scattered.

One guy who wasn't smoking came in the room when it cleared out and started talking to me about the Erie hardcore scene. :eyebrow:
  17. All it takes is some stupid lyrical cue and I have no control. In this case someone said "Carry on people" and Kansas was blasting through me.

It can make for some "aquard" moments:

There was this time back in the 80's. I was playing a gig at a bar and on my first break I sat at a table with my first wife and a bunch of her friends. The waitress I was screwing took our drink order and then walked away. Then one of the other waitresses came up to the table and started giving me Sh** because the girl was in the back crying. :bawl:

I was pretty young and stupid then and drank a lot.

Talk about an akward monent. :rollno:

Ha, that one holds a fond memory. I was at a dance with a girl who liked me and I liked her, but I was very shy. Her friend was with my friend and he went to get us drinks.

Barbie girl came on, I was sitting there in this aquard moment with these two girls, I was incredibly shy so I wasn't very talkitive with this girl. But the song was annoying me so much that I plugged my ears and looked at the ground. When my friend came back, both the girls had their ears plugged too. So Ben looked very confused and we all looked up at each other and we all had plugged ears. We laughed, it was an icebreaker, we all shared a hatred of Aqua. :D

Hmm, the only awkward moment I can think of was at work a few months ago. I bypassed the Muzak system with a Discman, and was playing Thin Lizzy's Jailbreak. It was at a reasonable volume for most of the album until the last several bars of Emerald. With a store full of customers, it got very, very loud. I suppose that has been my most humbling musical experience...
