I'm looking at my Am Pro right now and it says "Corona, CA" so it's your call... probably a phony ;)

  3. Thanks...it's a hours drive away just to check it out, and that really raised a red flag. Looked at a lot of pix of other pro's thinking their may have been a transitional label on the headstock when they went from the standard to pro, but had not found one so had to ask here.

Should be a serial # on the back of the headstock. Hope this helps... good luck!

Edit... just checked the Sweetwater site. The newer ones say Corona, California, so you might be good. If so, I'd snag it... helluvadeal.

It clearly has a certificate of authenticity - look up the serial # on Fender’s site!

First American Pro P I just checked on Sweetwater says "Corona, California", so they must have changed it up a bit?

  7. Tried to read the # and gets too pixated to read...but yea tried that. Thanks though

That bass is absolutely authentic, and according to serial # US18003023 manufactured sometime this year.
(18 being the year +6 digits)

  12. Thanks for everyone's help...I'll give the guy a call in the morning to go check it out.

Ask Fender too, if they had a small initial run with "CORONA, CALIFORNIA" in the decal instead of "CORONA, CA".

Might just be that they used up old neck plates from the American Standard series. My American Standard has "Corona, California" on the neck plate. Looks legit otherwise.

Worth the two hour drive, even if there's no pizza or burgers.

I'm pretty sure the OP is talking about the head decal. I've seen both versions (neck decal) on Sweetwater. "CORONA, CA" and "CORONA, CALIFORNIA" on both J and P basses.

Looks legit to me. I'd have to snap it up if it were near me.

    A $1,500 bass and a $300 amp for $750?
    Definitely worth the drive.
