View attachment 3863875 I had been hunting for one of these for quite some time and snagged this Vintage Modified V Precision off of Reverb. This 5 string Indo bass plays like the highest end of my USA Fenders and sounds amazing. I have had similar great luck with two exceptional VM V Jazz Basses which are still relatively easy to find. Please post pics and let me know any info you may have on production numbers or rarity of the P bass version, I have heard this run was shut down early. I can attest it certainly was NOT a quality control issue - this bass is amazing! upload_2020-6-12_7-27-21.jpeg

They're as rare as hen's teeth, and very unpopular. :smug: Nonetheless – congrats!

Thanks for the confirmation garp! I think I have only seen one other for sale recently and it was a killer looking candy apple red one but they wanted 2100 on eBay OUCH!

  4. I owned one and it was fantastic! Excellent tone and build quality.
I ultimately sold it because the neck was simply too wide for my playing comfort.
May yours give you many years of playing enjoyment!

I picked up a Squier VM P-5 too from Reverb in 2016. They discontinued it a few years later, and I notice they have become very difficult to find in the marketplace. Mine is burst and I really love the instrument. My number one has been a Warwick Thumb 5 for decades but lately I have been bringing the P along with the Warwick to gigs (remember those?) and end up just using the P all night. It really sits in the mix well.

I know this thread is a few months old but I just read lowdownthump’s post, and that has been my exact situation for a few years. I have a ‘99 Warwick Thumb 5, but the VM P-5 has been getting most of the stage time lately. I just picked up a second one a few weeks ago from a TB member that I will debut Friday at a rare, but outside gig. I have the Burst and the new one is Oly White. Superb instruments. No need to mod, other than strings and usually set up stuff.
