Welcome to 21st century America where so many have bought into the silly notion that they are entitled to a life exactly as they think it should be. A place were compromise is for everyone else and violence and intimidation are not just called for, but are REQUIRED whenever anyone dares to disagree.

Pissy because he dedicated a song to Trayvon Martin? Too bad someone in the band/crowd wasn't CC, she could've gotten a taste of it herself...

  11. I know, poor Les, that was bad, I have friends that were there, and it was sick - the lady was/is twisted. :(

Back in the 80's one of my guitar players was attacked while we were playing by a guy with a knife. We always had a body guard, fellow named "Bear" and he got to the perp first. There were two other incidences back in the 70's; different band and different body guard. I never go anywhere unarmed.

edit: just remembered, I was in a band that contained a husband/wife combo and she hauled off and knocked the hell out of him in the middle of a show for absolutely no reason. Later discoverd she had a tumor on her tyroid; major chemical disruption.

Read the story. The guy dedicated a song to Trayvon and the white chic didnt like it. It seems on paper to be a racially motivated attack. Most likely she was off her meds (most likely the illegal kind). Regardless it is unacceptable.

People like to throw stuff at you when you play large festivals. This is more in the rock world. So you deal with that and have fun with it, since there is nothing you can do.

This show was so chill that it is crazy to see violence like that. Very unacceptable.

I played a show in a smaller venue in northeast. Security was minimal. Some drunk guy sauntered up to the side of the stage next to me and started talking trash. So I grabbed the mic and challenged him to a fight in front of everyone there. That ended that. Of course one of record guys told me the story of Sebastian Bach getting sued and basically the moral there was that I had to just deal with the drunk losers who threw stuff or ran their mouth. So after that I just had fun with it.

One thing I want to add is while I do not in any way agree with what she did, I also do not agree with musicians using the stage for political commentary. If I want political commentary I will dial up CNN or Fox News; I come to a concert for music.

Music has always been an outlet for political/social commentary. (Art reflects life) Some of the greatest music of our time comes from it.

That is nuts... we are prepping for a show tomorrow night and we were discussing recent topics and Trayvon came up... we decided it was a little to hot topic for our show, this is why.

I totally agree. You want to make a song about it...fine. "for What It's Worth", "Ohio" for example; what I am saying is do not use the stage as a pulpit

edit: the 1st amend. gives you the right to free speeh but I also have the right of boycott; the Dixie Chicks come to mind.
