Have you ever been sitting on money and not known what bass you want?

Im in that spot right now and its frustrating. I play an sr5 and I really love it but the weight is killing me and I have been wanting a 4 string forever. The obvious choice is a sterling but something in the back of my mind is telling me "Hey Jason you need a Jazz" or "Hey go passive." I don't even know why but I just keep having doubts. I think sitting with the money for a long time will do that to you haha.

Anyone seen a new or used black sterling with a maple neck and non-matching headstock anywhere? I think if a shop here had one it wouldn't be a big deal but I have just had all this time to think and re-think it.

I usually want more than I can afford, not afford more than I want...

But Sterlings are okay, I'm sure you'll be happy!

It's not that I don't know what I want, it's that I want too many different things, and I can't decide which one I 'need' the most.

    Never.
I always run out of money, before I run out of basses to buy.

That's a problem I'd like to have. Consider yourself lucky.

I just got GAS and put one on plastic. I wish I had your problem.

A year ago, I couldn't pull the trigger on my new bass and I had been thinking about it, talking about it and saving for it for a long time.
Fortunately, I had a friend giving me the ol' "Just do it you big P**sy" treatment and honestly I really needed it.
I'm not trying to call you names but maybe as you stand on the edge of the cliff, we TBers can kind of nudge you over!

You say the obvious choice is a Sterling. Get it!!! (then start saving for that sweet Jazz).

    Good luck,

    Chad

Yeah, happens all the time, I hate that. "I've got all this money and can't decide on a bass." It's almost as bad as "which supermodel am I going to date tonight?"

Can't say I've encountered that problem. I have noticed the basses I like are becoming more and more expensive since I signed up for talkbass- thanks guys :( .

If you want a sterling- get the sterling. If you want to know what I'd do with the money- Peavey Cirrus (For some reason, i have mad gas for one). It's not a life or death question- if you don't like the sterling, sell it, or return it. I'd buy it used so that you take a "smaller" hit if you do have to end up letting it go.

  15. how can you have GAS with your kibuki (sp?)

I prefer the Sterling more than the Stingray myself

    You'll love it

i prefer the american jazz i bought from you.

  18. Here's a TB'er selling a black/maple Sterling with a matching headstock. Personally, I'd buy the Sterling, sell the SR5, and buy a Jazz - but then you'd have the setup I want. I have a Jazz and an SR5, but want a Sterling instead of the SR5 - I'm just more of a 4-string player.

:) I miss that jazz! I need to just quit being a baby and go for that sterling though. The comment about "which supermodel am I gunna take out tonight?" was awesome. I didn't mean to be bragging by any means, I have been saving up forever and its just kinda weird taking the jump. I need to just do it before some random bills comes up on me. Lord knows that has happened before.
