you could move it around for effect dunning the show, like whammy but in sound not pitch.

 

cool idea, UGLY BASS. i have seen many a basses that function on the same premise. even one that kind of looked line a steinberg.

 

Gibson had a similar design 30 years ago, and Westone had the Rail bass that also allowed the pickup to be slid in various positions.

I still think I'd rather have multiple pickups that can sense the strings in more than one position at a time and the ability to blend.

 

I wonder how long it would take to become too loose. It would look like a windshield wiper.
