I'm machining a headless bass bridge and wanted to know how much adjustment length I need to build into it to be able to bring the strings up to tune.

  2. How much length you need depends on what your string attachment method is (ie, how tight the string is when you attach it before you start adjusting the tuners).

My Steinberger bridge has 16mm (5/8") adjustment
My ABM headless bridge has 14mm (9/16") adjustment

BTW: If you looking for a brdge to modify or copy, I have an ABM headless system I'd let go for half what AllParts charges.
