Anyone know of heads that will run 800 watts at 4 ohms and 1200 watts at 2 ohms? I know of the Fender Bassman Pro 800 and 1200 but are there any others? It seems that most heads go down in wattage at 2 ohms, not up like the bassmans, or am I not reading the spec's right?
  2. I dont' know for sure... but, my Kustom Groove Bass 1200 has more than plenty of volume and loves to go down to 2 ohms. Do a search on here on the Kustom & it won't take you long to get the specs on it, if you are interested.
  3. Carvin B1500. See SMASH's thread on this amp in this forum.

I've never seen an amp that went up at 2 ohms. There are really only three cases with 2 ohms:
    1. The amp can't do 2 ohms.
    2. The amp puts out more power at 2 ohms.
    3. The amp puts out the same power at 2 and 4 ohms.
Number 1 is the most common. Number 2 is common, although some manufacturers lie, er, stretch the truth to make it true.

    Carvin B1500 is 700 @ 8ohm, 1250 @ 4ohm & 1900 @ 2ohm. Try a quick search.

iAMP 800 is rated close to that, with 800w into 4 ohm and 1,000w into a 2 ohm load. But it also has a peak rating of 2,500w!

Thanks for the replys, keep them coming if any amps havent been mentioned. I am leaning towards the fender 800 since it has the power i'm looking for and a built in compressor (and room knob which i find useful on my 400. I do wish it had a knob for the mid's though.)

The new Series III Focus 1 & 2 from Acoustic Image do 800 watts at 4 ohms and 1000 watts at 2 ohms. And weigh around 4 pounds or something. The sound isn't for everyone, but I like it (I have a Clarus SL, not the new stuff).

And like Tom said, the iAmp 800 has those same wattage figures, with that really high peak wattage (not sure what the peak wattage is on the AI stuff).

The Walter Woods Ultra won't do 2 ohms, but it'll give you 1200 at 4.
