Are they nuts? A lefty custom conklin for 900.00? What's wrong with it? ;)

Lets not forget the Mighty mite Pre.

    maybe the bass is stolen

  5. not too sure, the guy has good feedback & looking at present & past auctions he is selling/sold a Lakland, Conklin GT, Fender P all lefties. M-pulse too.

Gee, I would cringe at selling this stuff.

Why would a custom shop Conklin have a mighty mite preamp?

Also, the bass doesn't have a figured maple top as Jauqo have pointed out.

Maybe the seller is not sure about the pre

His 1st neutral feedback is the same bass having been sold and perhaps returned due to undisclosed flaws ??? The guy apparently has a Hummer. (sold a spare rim) If his financial needs are such that he has to pawn gear, to remodel a kitchen, well maybe I'm being judgemental.
    Sounds fishy..

Hmm...it doesn't look much better than a GT-7! Somethings up, surely...

Ebay seems a bad place these days, we seem to see nothing from it other than indo-chinese scammers and this kinda (suspected) rip-off deal.

I'd feel much happier buying through Talkbass.

Looks like a New Century model... Obvious that the guy doesn't know that he has..

Edit: Looks like he copied the description from the Grooeve Tools line.. If it's legit that a great deal...
  11. could always restring it ala Hendrix.

One thing's for sure, it isn't a Groove Tools. The conklin pups are correct. Odd indeed.
  13. Now that would be cool. Neck dive would be off the limits though.

I would think with this info it would be pretty easy to check on the legitimacy of the bass, and also verify that it is a custom shop model, I wouldn't think they would write that on the back of the New Century models. Bill could probably clear up what the preamp was at least when it left the shop, no guarantee that it hasn't been changed, but I wouln't understand swaping in a Mighty Mite

Looks like it was built for James Christian sometime in 2002 (not sure about the date, but that looks like what it says between the tuners)

    Bill Conklin,
informed me that he did make the bass in the pic for a Bassist named James Christian,Bill said the body is solid swamp ash,the neck is Maple and purpleheart and it has an Aguilar OBP-3 preamp(at least when he made it).
  16. Strange, the guy ended his auction for the Conklin stating he no longer has it for sale. It had 2 bids yesterday. :meh:
