Heart of the Bass

Discussion in 'Recordings [BG]' started by Bernie Connors, Feb 19, 2004.

  1. Hello all,

Would anyone know what bass John Patitucci used for this recording? Was he using Yamaha at the time? I love this recording and he gets a great sound out of his bass.

    Thanks,

    -Bernie

Most probably his signature 6, still very much in production, AFAIK.

This was released in the early 90s, so I think he was still using the first generation TRB-6P, i.e. the neckthrough with the piezo pickup.

  5. Thanks everyone for the replies.

Chris, that's what I was thinking but I was not sure. So I thought I would ask. ;)

I love the tone of that bass! Of course, John's amazing playing is a big help. :p

  6. I just checked the inside cover of the CD and there is a great picture of John with his Yamaha. Definitely not a bolt on so full marks to Christopher !!

Now I've got the CD out I'm going to have to play it.
It was seeing John in the Chick Corea band that really convinced me that six was for me.
