Heartfield DR5

  1. I have had my eye on one of these for a fair time, going second hand here. The Heartfield (for the few of you who don't know) is a kind of Fender copy of an Ibanez (the lawsuit reversed!!) made at the end of the 80s and, like all "non-Fender" Fender basses, a commercial flop. They are nice basses with nice necks, and I am thinking of acquiring one as a high 5.

What I find intriguing is that they have an XLR output alongside the regular 1/4" jack. Does anyone have any info about the elecronics in these basses?

    Hello Andy,
If you haven't already, you may want to ask this over at the FDP. Someone (JSilva IIRC) over there had a website devoted to Heartfield, but I believe it doesn't exist anymore. It was mainly about guitars but had some bass info.
I own a DR5, but I have never had occaision to use the XLR.
