Does anyone know of some really really heavy duty type gig bags? if you have websites that would be great.. but if... what kind of gig bag do you have... i am getting tired of having to carry my stingray all over the place in its hard shell case. it starts to get aggrivating and what not after awhile.... oh yeah and this may not matter but my bass is a 5 string... thanks piece
Warwick makes a great bag for about $50. If you want something really serious, try the Summit...it is very expensive, though ($150). www.warwickbass.com www.guitarbackpack.com
Years and years ago, Bass Player magazine had a gleaming review of a gig bag, available single or double, from Mike Tobias, said it was the best bag they've ever seen. I e-mailed Mike Tobias a few years ago, and he still had a double-bag to sell me, which I love - he said it was his last double, and had been using it for himself, but was willing to sell it to me (lucky me). He may have a single bag or two left, you might want to try to e-mail him, address from www.mtdbass.com. Also, you might want to check out www.reunionblues.com. I've heard good things about their bags as well.
You might check out one of these. Lighter than a hard case, but more protection that a gig bag. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7...3005647265/search/g=home/detail/base_id/54176
The nicest gig bag that I have is from a company called CTM and it has a tweed covering, double shoulder straps and nice padding, all of my basses fit easily in this case. I also have a lightweight case from a company called MBT that is the same size as a rectangular hard case but it weight what a gig bag does, most of my basses fit except my Gibson G-3.
At a gig I played at last night a dude had a nice gig bag.. he said it was the gig bag that fodera basses come with... or that fodera makes.. i can't remember exactly... but that gig bag was nice
Since I have a car with a small trunk, gig bags are all I use (though I'm planning on using the brown HSC that comes with my MTD 535). GARD will gladly sell you an Undercover Cases single or double gig bag. These bags are terrific--well built, very thickly padded, and easy to carry. I think the double bag has a slightly better carrying strap. It's worth the extra bucks for the times when you need to bring two basses to a show. I'm pretty sure these are the bags that come with Foderas. That's what it says at BassCentral's site. By the way, Gard rocks! I also have a Levy's leather bag that I got off eBay for $45. The more deluxe Levy's bags are pretty nice.
MmMmM...Undercover double gigbags... For the school fair I had to bring 2 basses with me because my Fender slaps nicer than my Spector, and in our rendition of Stand By Me I slap the chorus, and plus - it just looked so cool sitting on stage on my stand waiting to be played. It also looked cool strapped over my shoulder being played. Anyway, Since I got the Undercover double bag, I've loved it. Not a single problem with it.
...who me??? The Undercover gig bag is used as an OEM bag by: Lakland Fodera F-Bass MTD Highly recommended, I like their stuff so much I got them to start making a bag for the NS Design upright, since the bag it comes with leaves much to be desired. I've got 3 now! (Undercover gigbags that is!).
Gard, How long and how wide is the Undercover bag? I need a bag for an Alembic point body that is 51" tip to tip and 16 1/2 inches wide at the widest point. Will the Undercover work? I talked to Summit. They don't make anything long enough. Peace, James
James - The standard bag will probably not do the job, but they do make custom sized bags. I just had a double bag made for a customer that would have fit 2 of your basses. So, yes, I can get you an Undercover bag for your bass, but you'd have to be patient and wait for it to be made as it won't be a "stock" item. If I can help, PM, e-mail, or call (800-545-8813) anytime.
AFAIK, they do, but I kinda like it. Firstly, my band members like to oogle at it because it's Bass Central, and they've never heard of stores that specialize in bass-only stores, and secondly, it's a very sexy logo. Sort of.
Sorry Sheepy - no. We've been revising the logo, and right now none do. Hopefully we'll be making logo'd bags available in the very near future though!
I was just wondering because I see on the website the pictures have some with the logo and some w/out... yeah this is the gig bag for me... as soon as I can get some money.. i'll buy one.. or two... or maybe the double gig bag.
Lakland offers a double gig bag in canvas. I think it might be an Undercover bag, I'm not sure. Give Lakland a call and I'm sure they can tell you. I'd have gotten one, but they don't offer on without a Laklnd logo on it. IMO, the best are Levy's in leather. Pricey, but a $200 bag for my $3000 bass is worth it. I'm planning on selling my Bag End 410 for about $400 and using that with an additional $100 to get a Levy's dual lether in all black. SWEET!! and the the instruments will be VERY well protected.
I bought an UnderCover double bag from Gard last summer. They are the ones that Lakland sells and LA Bass Exchange sells them with LABX logo. Mine has no logo, and I took the UnderCover label off. But it is one stout bag. It'll hold two Lakland basses easily. They're pretty big and have 35-inch scales, so it'll probably hold two of most any basses, especially that little three-quarter size Pedulla beginner's bass.
I'm pretty sure BassNW can set you up with the Levy's bag in either black or brown. Also, check eBay constantly, and maybe you'll get hooked up: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1481113374 Heh heh heh heh....
All leather Levy's are a little hard to come by. Finda local Levy's dealer and they'll special order you one, provided you prepay. It's the same for the dual bag. Like I said, a single is gonna cost you easily over $200 and may have to be ordered special if you want a particular color. There is a music store here that has a singe bag in leather, but it's green with brown trim. Not my cup-o-tea. I want all black. For $489 plus tax, It'll be worth it in my opinion.
