My wife bought me a 1997 Fender American Deluxe Jazz bass and I love everything about it except the weight of the neck. After playing at a gig for two hours, the place where the strap sits on my neck becomes very sore. Is there anything that I can do to alleviate this problem?

I have had the same problem. I have experimented with a number of different straps to spread out the load. I have heard good things about the Comfort strap and the the Tri-strap. Personally I use a big, padded, soft-leather strap made by Levy's (about $40.00). Seem to work well
