heil pr 40

    hello,
    is someone still using the Heil pr 40 to amplifying the bass live?
    one or two years ago it seems to me that the pr 40 was a best selling mic.
    any impressions now? do you suggest it yet?
    I play all gut with a good acoustic volume, so I think a dynamic would be a good option for me.
    yes, I don't have the money for a Schoeps...

  2. It's a great mic, but is heavy and challenging to mount. The DPA is a much more elegant solution.

    +1 JR's used both of these mic's. It's really to bad that Bob Heil didn't put the stubby version of the PR40 into production. I ask him about it, and he said that their marketing research just didn't support bringing it into production. Since DPA brought the 4099 into the market about a year later and a half later, I guess he did his homework.
