    Hola!

I came across what was advertised as a '59 P Bass, but it definitely has a later neck. I dated one of the pots to 59, but I'm not sure about the body. Can anyone point me in the direction of any distinguishing marks or traits to either date this body to a 59 or later? Pickguard and bridge are non-original but the seller says the pickup is. Any info would be awesome.

There's almost always a hand written date in the pickup cavity, but you'll need to remove the pickup.

Sure looks like a 70's poly-finished body. That's how they wear, on the rare occasions the thick poly wears at all. Plus the colors are wrong for a '59. That pot is a '93, and that wiring isn't even remotely correct....

  4. That is exactly the first thought I had, looks like a 70s body. Maybe a '70 or '71 I had a '71 very similar.

Yeah, the way the neck plate is completely inside the black outline started when they went to poly in '69. Before '69 the black outline would have followed closer to the shape of the body in that area.

  6. Yes and I just noticed its a F stamped and serialized 70s plate so it at least has some 70s Parts on it.

Looks like it could be a nice player just pay accordingly.
