Helllllllp, i'm sick

Discussion in 'Off Topic [BG]' started by paniak17, Apr 10, 2006.

  1. Ok, so it all started a couple days ago, first my throat became kind of dry. On Saturday I became really tired. Saturday night i would wake up in the middle of the night and stay up for a while because i couldn't fall back asleep(insomnia?). Sunday my ears started acting all weird. And last night sleeping was the same, i would wake up for a while and not be able to fall back asleep, only this time I had a huge ear-ache, which for some reason my mom but antibiotic ear-drops in, but, i guess it got rid of the pain, but it made my ears feel like im constantly in a plane. And right now there really clogged up.

My sinus's are kind-of stuffy, not runny though. I just want to know what i have. My mom won't take me to a docter, but I stayed home today from school. Helppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp.

Also my dad made me take amoxicillin(sp?).

then get some lemon theraflu. After drinking that stuff, you can't help but feel better. It's so awful, even stubbing your toe is preferable.
  5. I would laugh if i wasn't so afraid right now.......................My ears are really messed up.........and I'm scared........................But i think there messed up from the drops, but who knows...............................

Sounds like an ear infection. Maybe a sinus infection as well.
Ear infections are usually VERY painful. The sinus infection
feels like head cold, and green crud comes out when you blow
    your nose.

I had that a few years back. You won't kick it without
    amoxycillin, I didn't.
  8. Yeah.......I know the amoxicillin doesn't do anything, but my parents are MAKING me take it. They're crazy. They won't take me to the doctors either because it's "too expensive".

If I don't get the right medicine for it, how long will those things last for, if that's what I have?

Amoxycillin is the right medicine if that is what you have.

When I had it, it lasted for months, I couldn't shake it until
I went to a Dr. and got a scrip for the antibiotic.

So don't stop taking it, and take the whole course of it, otherwise the infection can come back on you.
  10. Wait, so your saying the prescription you got was for amoxicillin?

Yes, that's what he's saying. How is it that your dad has some? Left over from an old prescription of his?

I tried to fight off a sinus infection for a month on my own. I finally broke down and tried some western medicine. It seems to me working so far. I still prefer hot sauce and ginger steam though.

  13. Yeah, left over prescription from me last time, though I can't remember what it was for. And when he say's amoxycillin he means amoxicillin, right? I'm not trying to be rude and correct him, cuz they might be two different medicines or something, I don't know.
  14. Thick pink stuff with a bad bubble gum flavor, right? Same stuff.

You probably have a sinus infection. It'll take a week or so to go away. Just suffer through it.

    Rock on

No, you are correct in the spelling, sorry about that.
Yes, we are talking about the same thing.

You are unlikely to kick this without the medication.

Good grief, man.. Don't self-medicate on antibiotics. That's a terrible idea...especially when you have no idea what you're doing. Antibiotics are not like throat lozenges. You don't just pop some whenever you feel sick.

Mulcahy needs to weigh in here so that you can tell your parents that an actual doctor somewhere said that you need to stop taking your dad's antibiotics!

Any healthcare system that does not already have NTB and his dad locked up in a psyche ward should be SERIOUSLY reconsidered.

I don't think your folks ought to have given you an old antibiotic. That can be dangerous. But, since you've started it and seem to have no ill effects, take it all, as directed on the label. If you stop an antibiotic before you're done, the infection gets worse.

Also, breathe steam from a pot of water that has had ginger root boiled in it, or just add some Vicks VapoRub to the water, if you can't get any ginger root. Helps open up the airways so you can get the mucus out.

Walgreen's makes a good, cheap version of Mucinex that I gave my son when he had a sinus infection.

Drink all the orange juice you can stand, and eat lots of fruit...vitamin C and trace minerals to help you fight this off. Ginseng tea is also good to boost your system, and will give you energy.

    Feel better, sugar!
