hello, I just read the above about finding a new forum that deals with amps, I totally agree with you! Anyways, to get to the point...does anyone know any books/web sites/anything that could help teach me how to setup my bass to fit me...I'm just begining to play bass again and I'm taking it very seriously and need some help from my fellow bassist. Mostly I'm looking at setup in the string, neck, pickups, basically everything that has to do with setup...PLEASE HELP!!! thanks a big bright bundled bunch of bananas
Hmm i have no idea. Try your local library? Hambone? Any suggestions?? Anyway why not do a search of TB's threads?? I know there is countless threads in this forum on Truss rod Adjustment, action adjustment (there was one only a few days ago), there are even a few pickup threads that slipped by the gates! Merls
Welcome to TalkBass SwingNThgs! A great book that I use as my setup Bible is called The Guitar Player Repair Guide by Dan Erlewine. I never touched my own basse until I read this book it details everything you need to know. Now I setup my basse along with 3 or 4 other bass players that I know
I second that. With that book alone, I am "the setup guy" in my local community of musicians. Makes me feel speshul.
Hmmm *furrows brow* I thought i saw Sally. But didn't they put her down?? I mean that incident where he was waxed and then raced didn't sit well with officials. Merls
Gary Willis has a good site because the instructions are accompanied by simple illustrations http://garywillis.com/pages/bass/bassmanual/setupmanual.html
