    hi!

I’m having trouble iding this yard sale find, hopefully you can help me... it’s either an old custom/signature model or a weird Frankenstein

    I don't think that's a custom shop Fender.

  3. It's truly custom, but not anything out of fenders factories lol

Need much better/clearer pics. Closeup of the front of the body. Closeup of the head front and back. Closeup of truss rod hole. Closeup of bridge. Closeup of serial number. All in focus.

Nice decal. It's the closest thing to be Fender on the whole bass.

Sure? No chance it’s a “rare japan 80s edition” or something like that?

Uh oh. Did you already buy it?

Edit. Reading comprehension is a thing. You got it at a yard sale.

If you like the way the bass looks and it plays comfortably to you, and you feel the price is worth what you would be getting, I don't see why not to buy it?
If you would only be getting it because it's a rare custom shop, don't, because it isn't.

  13. The green haired skull would make it worth getting if it's cheap enough. :p

That's not even a Fender much less a Custom Shop Fender. The tuners look like what comes on the fake Chinese knock off basses. Too many things "not right" about that bass to list!

I don't think Japan has a Custom Shop. I've never seen that "F" logo on the heal of the neck before either.

The skull appears to say “Fat Luthiers” (or maybe “Rat”). Google yields no info that I can see.

Maybe the Custom Shop guys went in after the Christmas party and threw this together from random junk laying around.

I think I suspended belief on seeing the red Fender logo. I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure that's not a Fender, much less a custom shop build.

Let's see, a $100 mighty mite neck, a body from GFS, a couple random pickups, some cheap hardware, and it's worth ....less than the sum of those parts. $200 would probably be generous.

Man, that's the worst fake I've seen in a long time. $25 bass.
