Sorry for all the threads, but y'all have really helped me rethink everything, so I'm really starting to narrow it down, and need just a little more help... (I'm playing a Fender Mexican P-Bass, 1991).

I had a band practice last night, and I realized what I want:

    1) I love the fat low tone from the P-Bass, but I want more mids and highs, without distortion. As of now, I feel the notes I play on the A and D get muddled and lost a little when compared with the booming E.
    2) I usually play with the tone knob on 4 or 5, to get that flat sound out of the mids; I want them pronounced, but not trebly and scratchy (that's how they sound to me with the tone knob on 10)... kind of like the sound you get out of an upright (sort of).
    3) I want a "modern" vs. "vintage" sound, I think.

If you guys have any idea what I'm talking about and can reccomend a pickup for me, I'd be psyched. Thanks!

  3. I have the EMG's in one of my basses and I think this maybe the modern sound your are looking for.

The duncan pups are nice too!

  4. Seymour-Duncan Bassline pups will probably give you the sound you're looking for.
