Which one ? 4 strings fodera NYC empire jj or vm5 with upgrades, hardcored age pino color, or black frog 5 ...set neck beauty with ramp hiding the humbuckers, upgraded Pre amp as well
Pics of the basses I am gassing for but I can only buy one http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f172/justicefortrance/null_zpsbf73dab8.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f172/justicefortrance/null_zps3933c49a.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f172/justicefortrance/null_zpsbb606309.jpg
I'm not a big fan of the P or J look generally, so my vote is the Frog. I want one of those too. I pulled up a couple of vids on Youtube and liked how it sounded, but I have no idea how it feels.
I have been mostly playing Fodera NYC's since 2008, I have owned 5 and 4 strings and I just buy the 7th one. If you are looking for that Jazz sound go with the Fodera NYC, usually they come with Aero pickups the preamp could vary from two band preamp to 3 band or like one that I just sold with a Fodera/Pope 4 band preamp (upgraded). These basses are not light they are between 9-10 pounds depending on woods. Sound wise they are amazing instruments with a clear midrange to cut thru the mix. They sound great where the meat is. Nothing against MTD's but I was an MTD guy for years and was not cutting thru the mix, the Fodera/Pope is a great preamp. Necks are very comfortable. They sound great on Passive or Active mode.
I like the Maruszczyk, strictly on looks. I don't know enough about them all to give a decent reason though.
Some rumors were going around that white 4 strings. It was said that was a custom made for Matt Garrison. Amazing sound very Jaco midrange, the preamp was 2 band, Volume/Tone, Volume/Pull/Push for active/passive, treble, bass very fast neck. Punchy great finger or slapping style. The black below had an amazing tone in passive and a great slapping tone…all of them great basses. Here are more pics:
I saw it when I bought mine, probably they were crafted around the same time. I would trade mine for yours. I like the Peghead on yours.
Tough choice, good luck. I like the Frog, simply because I'm somewhat tired of Ps and Js (both looks and sound) and have more than enough of each already. But they're all fine instruments, near as I can tell (haven't ever touched a single one of them, myself). There's a Sandberg I'd put higher on my list, but a different model than that one (the model I'm thinking of isn't even on their current site though). Edit: This is the Sandberg model that leaves me drooling - it is on the site, but hard to find (custom), I found it by search for the pic and then backing up to the page: I have an image saved on my home machine that (to me) is an even better color combo.
