Current stable- -Steinberger XL2-black -Squier CV 60s P-Fiesta Red -MIJ Tune bass Maniac-J/J -ESP Vintage 204-Sunburst/tort/PJ I have now owned every bass I have ever lusted after including Fender Js,Ps,P/Js 70s Rays, Alembics, Warwicks, Modulus, Zon and more than I can list here. Money isnt really an object but I have looked at every builder, boutique as well and there hasnt been ONE SINGLE bass I want, not even the high end Fodera, Alleva, Sadowsky, MTD lines. I will say that I have never owned a Ric but its not a priority. But strangely enough, something seems to be missing. Maybe its because I have 4 now, from my previous 6? I will say that I use my above arsenal pretty evenly though. I am sure GAS will kick in down the road but its a a complete halt. Anyone else going through this?
I was content until I saw the latest Frank Bello signature bass. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but I love it. Have absolutely zero need for it but still might pull the trigger.
I like the idea of the EUB but the bedrooms are all used up lol. But they do make the smaller ones like the NS design. The fretless..nah
Since last summer I quickly moved through Steinberger Spirit 5 fretted, then a Synapse fretless, now I have two NS Design NXT5s - the Omni and Upright Bass, it really does give you a different perspective. And they don't take up too much space, really.
Yep, of course I still look. But when I actually think about pulling the trigger on anything else it doesn't take long for me to remember how sweet this thing plays, and that I won't gain anything with another bass. Put it this way; my GAS is now gone for long scale fretted basses.
Yep. I have a bunch of basses and guitars for sale and I could probably whittle the rest down to a pair of 6s (short and long scale), the XL2 and the Hohner B2V. There are a couple I'd keep for nostalgia and display as well though. I still look, but today it's more about design and finishes as I'd like to build some basses next year from scratch. That itch started as I'd love an XL2-6, but that's not going to happen unless I make it, or commission it. I've started winding pickups too and have always done my own onboard electronics. So, if I build a few, I see that as a different, adjacent hobby/interest so it's not the same as just accumulating. PS: Does wanting a Stick still count as bass GAS?
yeah, i'd say so: fewer seems better. not sure where i'm gonna go with that , but i think it's a sound concept! apparently, jaco only needed four. we only need one! (TBH: i have more than enough!) i voted "yes." i think you're splitting hairs...
I've bought and sold many basses through the years (and still have some that need to hit the block), but I'm now at the point where I know what I like. See that bass in my avatar? That's the bass that I always play (good ol' P-Bass with TI Flats). Even since buying that bass, I've bought others, thinking that I need something with rounds, or a 5-string, or a bridge pickup, etc. But now, I've accepted myself as the simpleton that I am...P w/flats.
