I just received this bass today. It is KILLER! Amazing aggresive P-tone.

Wondering if there might be any vintage Yamaha experts out there that can tell me anything the model or era. I've seen BB-800's that look like this. My limited knowledge tells me late-70's, but I'm no expert.

    Serial number is:0014**

It shows up as an invalid serial number at the Yamaha Serial wizard. I have a call into Yamaha to get some more info, but haven't heard back yet. Any help would be appreciated.

Not great pics, I know. The pics don't show it, but it is actually a very dark green color.

Notice the small letters "fp" towards the corner.

Looks like an early BB-800 to me.

Nice ol' BB, I like it :)

Wow. I forgot I had even started this thread.

Yamaha ended up telling me that this is a "BB800—1987 to 1988". This seemed strange to me at first, as I didn't know Yamaha made basses like this that late, but others have told me that they were making these for the Japanese market in this era. BTW, great basses!
