none of those are particularly good, and the anodized looks aged white, otherwise I'd probably go with gold.
Black guard has 70's look. But I prefer anodized gold , classic look. Those wood knobs and wood thumb rest seem dint shines up your pbass.
Black. It’s a good contrast with a maple fretboard. Tory could work too but I would swap in the black tug bar and chrome knobs...also lose the pickup cover
I hate to say it, in general I too am an "anything but tort" buy, but I voted for tort- because it just works with that bass (compared to the other two). The black gets lost and makes the maple neck jump out too much. The gold competes with everything. Tort is the "last man standing" IMO. Black would be my second choice and wouldn't suck. I gave the gold a second look and would have to see it in person to judge. Maybe I'd change my opinion.
I think you already have made up your mind, as you left the cover off the pickups, changed the knobs and tug bar (i.e. black pickguard)... or is this a test?
Normally would say tort but black looks better with the maple board. Not a fan of gold pickguards, anodized or otherwise.
The black PG works well with the black edge of the body. Sort of a continuation of the color rather than a contrast.
"I see a tort guard and I want to paint it blaaaack.... No gold anno anymore, I want them to turn blaaack"....... Normally, I'm a tort guy.......but less and less lately. The black PG looks killer on that. And...... thanks for humoring me by reading my lofty poetry.
