How could I offer input? I haven’t played, or even heard, either of them.

Can’t go too far wrong with either. I’d decide based on wood preference.

    Constant state of flux
So why bother to say anything at all?

OP, both are going to be incredible instruments. Passive vs active, for me a Jazz should be Fender. I also love maple fretboards, but I don’t like natural wood color basses, or at least ash. So, I would go Fender. But let’s face it, no real way to go wrong there!!

Are you a 2 bass player that needs 2 very different basses to cover a huge range of tones. For example, one active with rounds and a humbucker, and the other passive spit coils with flats. Find the bass that is totally different than the one you currently have.

If you are a one bass player, test drive both, and get the one that suits your style.

I was merely implying, in a joking way, that it should come down to the playability and sound, not looks.

I'm sold on the Sadowsky. If the one in this video is anything like the one you're looking at, it'll probably be great.

I would take a Sadowsky any day over a Fender.

I just picked up a custom shop 62 P bass and love it. To be fair I already have an active bass but have to say I prefer passive basses. Good luck with your choice. Can’t go wrong either way...
