Ok guys, sold the Fodera AJ6.....now I have all that money burning a hole in my pocket.

The problem with the AJ6 was it was just too heavy, but I loved the low action and thin neck....plus I have a Stambaugh 4 string and 9 string being built....so I'm looking for a 5 string to compliment them.

Got 5 basses narrowed down, but can't make up my mind. Pick one and give me your thoughts!!! :bassist:

If you like the Stammies so much then why not just get a third and have a set?

  3. Ahh, do the Fodera.
You need something to bust it up a bit!!

Ever thought about a Benavente? I've played an AJ for about an hour or so and just really didn't like it at all. The one I played came in from a guy that owned a guitar store in KS that flipped over a Benavente 5. For the price of any of those basses (except possibly the Stambaugh), you could get a decked out Benavente.

    IMHO of course. :)

LOL, I know....the one you played came from Kirk who owns Acoustic Soul in Wamego, KS. I played that one too.....didn't play nearly as nice as the one I bought from him a couple years ago (and since sold on this here forum).

I actually looked into a Benny late last year.....to the point of sending the check off, but some family issues arose and alas, the money never got sent. I'll look into a Benny again someday, but might try to hit the used market first!

I voted MTD... but only because I really wanted to vote Nordstrand. Or mabe if you want a jazz bass get one of those Celinders.
    Do something different?

ORRR... Totally trick out a wishbass. :ninja:

Good luck man. Brian always seems to get them in consistantly, but I can't afford any of them :(

If you're worried about weight and a thin neck, I'd forget about a Wal. A Mark II, at least - the Mark IIIs might be different [I have no experience of these], but IIs are almost infamously heavy. Their mass is one of the main factors in their great sound.

That's assuming you can find one second-hand or are prepared to wait years for Pete to possibly build one...

I voted for the MTD five. MTDs sound fantastic to my ears and I know they have nice wide fingerboards. Seeing your tate in basses, I think that a Stingray 5 would not be comfortable for you.
