Okay- here's the dealio. I want to buy new here, and I need a new setup.

I'm open to anything Markbass- cabs included. Just don't break my bank (let's say $2,000.00). I'd prefer to buy from Guitar Center too, unless you can find something else.

    Link to GC Search.

What I need here is a cab/head or a combo (Markbass, please) that I can use everywhere: practicing, gigging small, gigging LARGE, you get my drift. I'm also open to stacking two cabs with a head.

Thanks everybody! Build me the ultimate Markbass setup that won't break the bank, nor my back!

LMIII or II + two of their biggest 210 cabs stacked vertically.

    OR...

LMIII or II + two 115 cabs of your choosing stacked vertically.

I'd go with the 210's personally. And I haven't tried the LMTube, but if it has the LMII sound + a tube, I could be talked into it.

The other heads they have are good, but I don't like the tone of their class D amps like the F1, and the LMIII is cheap, easy to get a great tone out of, and gets a good deal of the vibe of tube heads, albeit a very clean tube head vibe.

  4. IMO, this is it. Ignore the EPI cab, although it's pretty good too:

  5. get one of the neo 6x10's, and any of the 500 watt markbass heads, that would be plenty of power for ya!

Geez, you posted something, then 10 minutes later you're asking why there are no replies? Patience, dude.

I'm curious: It doesn't sound as if you've auditioned heads and cabs (or why are you asking TB for advice?); so, why are you set on buying Markbass cabs? Do you just want your rig to be all one badge?

I love Markbass after trying it out in a local (well, not really local) Guitar Center, but now since I assume that all Markbass cabs/heads sound the same (at least different wattage), I'm looking for the ultimate setup with some money I've put aside for stuff just like this.

And yeah, having an all-one badge rig would be nice too.

  9. This is incorrect. An F1 sounds quite different from a LM, or TA501. Better go try some out.

What is the difference in the tone you hear between the two..... just curious.

I owned both the Mini CMD 121p and 151p combos. Both were pretty cool, I especially liked the 151p. Adding the New York 151 to it would be a nice, flexible stack.

LMII sounds more like a clean running tube amp to me and the F1 sounds pretty much like any other SS head out there.

  14. Personally 2 (1x10'') cabs I don't think will be enough power that you need to be out gigging, unless doing some sort of low volume jazz stuff, like Jimmy said 2 (2x10's) would be nice, or just go with a 4x10, 6x10, the neo cabs are great tho!

Really? Both of those Epifani's can pull in 250w's, so that's a 500w setup. That's not that small.

But on the single-cab setup, what's better:
    Plus a Little Mark III?

Or how about two 121h Traveler's with a Little Mark III? I think I like that combo possibility.

I eventually got rid of the Markbass combo for LMII / Epifani setup. You'll see many on TB with that pairing, whether it be 110, 112, 210, 310, 410, etc.

Don't count on it. That rating is how much it takes for the voice coil to overheat. But the real world amount of power you can put through it without bottoming out the speaker is going to be much lower.

Possibly the least meaningful spec of speakers is their power handling ability. It's only useful as a ballpark...and a good rule of thumb is to take what the company tells you it will handle and cut it in half.

  18. I've been running my LMII through a pair of Ampeg 15" cabs (stacked vertically) and really dig it. I'm more of a "vintage tone" guy however so you may want something different.

Well, I'd like small and mobile for my gigs, too.

If you want extreme low end, you don't want 110's.
