Help me, need to change my EMG SSD to something active

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by fleizenkruz, Aug 13, 2012.

  1. Kinda newb when it comes to pickups :(

So I have 2 basses, a Spector Performer 4 and a MM SUB Ray4. The MM is obviously have higher gain since it's using active humbuckers. I want to change the Spector's passive EMG SSD into something active so it would match the SUB (in terms of gain, not tonality). What would be my best bet?

    Thanks :)

Actually the MM uses passive humbuckers!

  3. ah, so it has an active preamp on board then :)

does it mean that I only have to install an active preamp on my Spector as well?

Yep, you should just be able to install a preamp with those pickups.
