hey guys, i have been playing for about 2 years now and i just got a GK 700rb. usually when i jam with it i just use 2 8ohm 15's, but i like more highs. those speakers are my dad's and i need to get my own. i want to get a nice 4x10 to use just at 8 ohms when i just wanna jam. i was wondering if anyone has a GK head and what speakers go well with it and if its even ok to go full out at 8 ohms with the cab without overheating. well any information will help, thanks alot guys.

I run mine with a single 4-ohm Peavey 4x10. Never need to crank it, never gets too hot.

If you mean diming a.k.a. turning gain(edit: "volume" on the GK), boost, and master to 10 by "going full out," then no, it's not ok. Your head will very likely survive this experience, but your cab isn't going to like it one bit...just my $.02

GK + old school Mesa Road-Ready cabs
    + GK
    + Bag End
    + Hartke
    + Ampeg
    and yes...even
+ Peavey (had to do it, sounds great ;))

All known to match VERY well

You can use anything you want with it, but the first 5, especially, are classic matches. Try it all and buy what you like.

If you have the 700RB head I would say tryout the 4x10 RBH cab or the 1x15 RBH cab. If you have the money get both, you won't be sorry. You will also be able to use the speakon connectors and take advantage of the tweeters in the cabs (the highs you want). Each single cab will be 8 ohms so you will be able to use both cabs for a total of 4 ohms which is what you will need to get out you 380 watts.

thanks for the advice guys, i saw an old G-K 8 ohm 4x10 at the starving musician a while ago. i think i just wanna get a decent used cab and then my dad is going to put a new eden tweeter and just hook up a speakon to that.
