My wife and I are expecting a baby girl in the next couple of weeks, and we are really stuck on a middle name for our little girl. We let our son pick the first name (a consolation for not giving him a little brother), but we are really stuck on the middle name.

Here are some choices we've thought of, can you come up with any better?

I agree. April Marie is a good name.

How about Meinl? Mira? Getzen? Cerveny maybe? ;):D
  5. another vote for marie, and btw, congrats!
  6. If you give her a middle name that starts with R, they'll call her "Arf-Arf" all through junior high, and she'll get an eating disorder.

Be kind to her. Marie or Michelle are great middle names.

I pointed that out to my wife this morning, but I wanted to see if anybody else would think of that. Our first choice for a girl's name was Ella (after Ella Fitzgerald), but our bright 6 year old son immediatly said "Ella Finley sounds too much like Elephant!" And he was right!

I saw a fascinating documentary about the Hmong and the problems they face in this country. I wish I could remember it's name.

edit: it may have been a book, now that I think of it, written by a woman.

    i like reagan

my soon to be daughters middle name will be cadence.
  15. I was just wondering because I know that single-syllable, vowel-only surnames are very common among Southeast Asian peoples. There was a UN Secretary General whose name was U (pronounced "ooh") Thant.

    Congratulations by the way!

Will the middle name be an active part of her first name if you get me like anne-mari would be?

    My vote goes to marie.

    [stupid question one line down]
Ps - will she still be called April even if shes born in June?

He is Chinese, I think Cantonese specifically. I'm not sure, I don't know very much about Chinese culture and the way the country is divided or set up so to speak.
  19. There are lots of regional dialect differences in China, and the two systems of Romanization (the older Wade-Giles and the newer pinyin) create lots of possibilities.
  20. That made me laugh, that was great:D

    I voted for Marie.
