This summer I hope to pick up either a G&L Tribute, KSD, or Lakland Skyline 5-string in the $600-800 range. The other bass I'm considering is a MM SUB 5-string. I am mainly a guy who funks around the house but I play for my church choir every fifth Sunday or so. I'm not ruling out other playing but I have a really demanding day job that will always limit playing in organized settings.

  2. Go for the Lakland, but save up about $200 more and get the 55-02 model over the 55-01. Has the same pickups and preamp as the USA -94 models, but with a much smaller cost. I'm getting one next week! :)

I would recommend a Spector NS2000 Q5. They cost about $550. I just got one and love it.

  4. I am prolly getting a L-2500 tribute, simply because I need a 5 string for around a grand canadian, and I love this thing. I think If I could find a Lakland here in edmonton, I would go for a 55-02, but I am really strict about playing before paying.
