My wife is letting me get a new bass for our 20th wedding Anniversary!! I am getting an American Standard P bass, but I am having trouble picking the new color. I have narrowed it down to these

    Jade Pearl Maple board
    Candy Cola Maple board
    Black maple board
    Olympic White Maple board
    Sunburst Maple board
    Sunburst Rosewood board

Sunburst Rosewood has stood the test of time and tone. If you are a traditionalist, this is the way to go.

BUT...color is the least reason to purchase a bass. If you're going to purchase a bass, the way it sounds and the way it feels are more important, with color being a distant third.
  3. From your selection, I'd choose Olympic White with a maple fretboard.

I actually owned one before and love it, it was a 2008 but because of financial reasons at the time I had to sell it. That one was blizzard Pearl with maple board.

I covet a Fender P, Oly White w/ a red tort guard, so get that, and when you get tired of it, you can send it to me! :)
  7. Pink.

If they had them in shell pink I'd jump on it.

If you are going to go maple I think white would look good. Personally I like rosewood with black, but then I'm a Thin Lizzy fan.

There is something really sexy and powerful about the black/maple p bass.

I like the oly white. Is the only color that will continue to get better and better every year.

To me the Sunburst with Rosewood is the classic P bass look. To me it say Jamerson and that is why I like it. That being said the reason most of the options are maple boards is because almost every bass that I have ever owned was a maple board and I just prefer them for some reason.

My first Precision (76) was black and maple... still own... My last two purchases Fender 5's a Standard P and a Standard J are BOTH Candy Cola / Maple... (TB purchases that just worked out that way)....

I voted black and maple but the the Candy Cola Maple has really grown on me.... For the Olympic White option, I'm like others commenting and would prefer that with Rosewood... The Sunburst / maple can be very cool in a '70's way with a black pick guard....

    My order: (all maple)
    1. Black
    2. Candy Cola
    3. Sunburst
