In two days I plan on walking into a local store and putting money down on a brand new Stingray. The only problem is, I'm not sure which options I want. I've been thinking red of some sort. I've always been a fan or Rosewood, but now I've been thinking of maple. I've though about a piezo. So give me some feedback.

Heh. Sad thing is, I came close to trying with my old Ray last New Years.

Well after some more money invested in my car, it looks like it'll be next Saturday when I put the money down. I can't wait. I played a Stingray in GC and remembered how much I love that sound

Burnt apple with rosewood, and those cool things down at the bridge.

They aren't the piezo's are they?
Anyone want to set me straight?

I'm more than sure your talking about string mutes. They're only on pre-1995 Stingrays. Before Burnt Apple even came out.

  9. I vote: "Translucent Red/Rosewood/Black"
Can't go wrong with any of the choices, except maybe the blue one ;), though.

Blue bursts give me a thrill that borders on sexual, so that's how I voted. Rosewood would best compliment the visual aspect IMO. If you decide to go red, "Black Cherry Burst" is a wonderful parallel and the exact color I have in mind for my (distant future) custom bass.

As for piezos, most users I've had discussions with are of the opinion that unless you're doing "lighter music" (jazz, acoustic, coffeehouse, etc) or a decent amount of recording where it can be "tweaked", it's of little use as in it won't be heard/noticed. But if you've got the extra money to blow on it, it could come in handy one day. Extra options never hurt anyone.
  11. why not natural with a black pickguard? that always looks good:)
too bad the discontinued 'burnt apple', i really liked that finish

What you want is a Translucent gold, black pick guard, maple neck stingray.

I have one... and no, it doesn't.
  16. +1.

If we're sticking to just the color choices you posted, I'd say get the translucent red/rosewood/black pickguard. I would prefer a tort guard myself.

If we're talking about any Music Man colors, I'd go for either trans orange/rosewood/tort, or honeyburst/rosewood/tort.

    Natural/rosewood/tort is also nice looking.

Let us know what you get.

    Mike ;)
