Hi, I am looking for a certain type of distortion, its hard to explain. It sounds flat and lacking in harmonics, theres no real way to describe it. Its being used by the bassist from The Offspring on their latest album 'Splinter' Its most prominent on the song 'Spare me the Details'

Can anyone help? Distortion pedal? EQ settings? Ill try to think of some more examples.

    Thanks for now.

  2. is that distortion? i listened to to song the whole way through, and it doesn't sound like any distortion to me, just brite strings with a treble and (high?)mid boost, and a pick. kind of like most other punk bands. what i'm thinking, in my obviously limited knowledge of distortion, i read in my bass player about the bass player from all-american rejects who has a similar tone, and he says his sound comes from that sansamp rackmount preamp.
from what i hear, it sounds like green day, or the distillers.
    Of course, i maybe wrong!
