I want to wire one half of this precision pup straight to the jack without the tone or volume control. Never done any wiring like this before so any advice/help woould be greatly appreciated.

Alternatively if it is easy enough to use only one half of the pup and the controls let me know how and i could try that, but like i said i have no experience with this!

You want to wire HALF of a P bass pickup direct to the jack? That will only pick up two strings. Are you only going to play on two strings?

Edit: I just looked at the picture in the link. That is a J bass, not a P bass. What are you trying to do? Wire one of the J pickups direct? What are you going to do with the other J pickup? I guess I'm not undertanding what you are asking.

sorry the links got a bit messed up, check the thread again should be working right now. Its definitely a p pup, and i just want to wire half of it to the jack.

In the posted pic the pickup has been taken apart and is not sitting the way a normal p pup would sit. Pup B hasn't been moved and PUP A has had its cover removed and is out of its normal position.

Hope that clarifies things a bit.

One wire from the half pickup to the tip of the jack, the other wire to the shield of the jack. If there's too much hiss try reversing them.

I don't know how much more helpful anyone can be on the question you asked.

There are two wires leading from a P bass half-pickup.

There are two connection points on a 1/4" phone jack.

Solder one pickup wire to one jack connection point.

Solder the other pickup wire to the other jack connection point.

If you get a lot of hiss when you connect it to an amplifier, reverse the connections.
