I bought this grendel bass last year out of compromise. I needed a lighter bass, the bass I was lookin at got swiped from reverb too fast, and I thought i’d take a chance.

This has turned into my baby. My number 1. Work horse... But I’m realizing that I don’t know anything about the series or this particular bass. When I got it, it had barts and a bart pre, I put in the aguilars, went passive, series parallel switch, sticker inlays.

I know they’re made Czech Rep. I know there was another bass similar to it called the Beast.

Any more information would be awesome. A big thing i’ve heard is that it has the Buzz Feiten system. Is this true? Anyone ever put a detuner on one?

    Hi, great purchase.

That's an older Grendel the later version has the circular MTD logo

    Grendel is active
    Beast is passive

Some Grendel 5 string versions are 35" scale

    Poplar body
    Maple neck
    Wenge fingerboard and headstock veneer.
    Bartolini Pick ups and preamp.

They don't have Buzz F tuning system. That was later on with Asian made and USA MTD.

London UK Bass Centre version is called the Stadium.
