Help, my ashdown is gonna blow it's speakers out!

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by kevcooke, Apr 6, 2006.

  1. This doesn't happen every where I play, and has never happened at home, but I've done a couple of gigs now where after I've been playing for a while, this hum starts. THe hum gets louder, and louder, and then the speakers go "BANG BANG" really loud, and you can see the speakers lunge at they put out the bang. What's going on? I had a feeling it might be to do with a dirty power supply, so would a power conditioner solve this?

  3. Could be a bad mains earth, either the amp or the wall sockets could be to blame. Be aware that IF this is the case then it's potentially a safety issue - be wary. Mcrellys suggestion of a outlet tester is a good one.
