I got this P-Bass about 6 years ago in a local pawn shop. The serial number dates as a late 79 or 80. I had heard that this might be a custom color. I have never seen another translucent blue one like it. For anybody that knows Fenders, is this a custom color or just rare?

For a few years around 1980, fender made some 'gem' color instruments...this one is sapphire blue, color code 547.

This is not a custom color, but they didn't make a ton in this finish either. There are a couple of guys on TB with the emerald green color from this run too.

Thanks! I wasn't able to find any documentation about this color.
