Help Routing For Wiring

Discussion in 'Luthier's Corner' started by Omnipharious, Mar 21, 2011.

  1. I'm going to be doing my first kind of serious build soon, and I need to know how to route the wiring holes from the control cavity to the pickups. It'll be an EB-0 body blank, so a lot of the hole would have to be under wood, because most of it wouldn't be covered by pickguard, obviously.

Any help you guys could offer?

I'm highly opinionated and extremely self-assured
Use a really long drill bit, and drill it through at a slight angle.

  3. Is it really that simple?

It is for me. I hate pickguards.

If you are building the body out of multiple pieces you can deal with it during the initial layout too.
Just go slow with the long bit is what I'd do.

You can find LONG drill bits at electrician supply stores and MAYBE Loews/ HomeDepot/ etc (in electrician tools/ supplies)

  7. It should have a pickguard on it (even if the corian doesn't work out), so I shouldn't be that far that the routing won't be covered by pickguard.
