Hi everyone, I've been trying to figure out what song is this bassline from. I thought it was Cameo, Slave, or other bands from similar period of time. This is driving me insane!!! Help please. I would really appreciate it. Thanks!!
Um, I finished watching your video, which led into Surfrajettes @ Norman's Rare Guitars, and you were asking what?
This is still killing me. Yeah the recording quality is not the best, but it's enough to hear the bassline. Thanks!
Last night I thought of this song too, but I don't think this song is exactly it. Very close though, thanks!
Sounds a bit like "She's Strange" by Cameo. Actually Cameo made another song with a similar bass line that might actually be it, but I cannot remember the name of that song.
First thing it reminded me of is Square Biz by Teena Marie. It's a killer line with the syncopations. Hmm, learned something. Allen McGrier on bass- and inspiration for the name of the song. http://www.soulbounce.com/soul/2008/06/55_teena_marie_square_biz/
My computer speakers suck, but from what I can hear it's slightly reminiscent of the intro of Blame it on the Boogie by Jackson 5:
As the responses so far show, I would say that it's the bass line to about 10 or 20 different funk tunes!
