help with amps

    hi guys im gonna get a new cab and maybe a head, i play drop c with distortion and i use a sansamp di aswell. i was thinking aout getting a Ampeg SVT-410HLF cab and use it with the head i have at the moment. also i know someone who is selling an SVT-3 Pro Ampeg amplifier and 1, 410 HLF Ampeg cabinet for 900 quid thats a pritty cheap deal but how will it sound any advice will be great cheers

    Is that a B410HLF or an SVT-410HLF? I wouldn't waste my time with a B...

    If it is an SVT and a 3PRO it will sound pretty good. As far as distortion goes, you're on your own there, I always tried to eliminate distortion in my bass playing, HA.

    +1 to Bob's post. SVT 410hlf is a classic, as is the 3Pro. Good luck.

    yea man i think its an svt 4x10 so it is pritty good for the money so u recon that will sound phat if i was too buy that or do u think i wud need to buy a 1x15 or somthing aswell to cope with the low end? cheers for the reply

    SVT-410HLF makes more bottom than a 115.

    And, the 3Pro is 4 ohms min, so you can't add any more cabs to the 410hlf.

    why can i only have one cab with 4 ohms?

    Basically because that's the minimum impedence that the amp can run at.

    so does that mean that i could have 2 8 ohms cabs the head is 4 ohms which i thought ment it ran best on 4 ohms cabs. apologies for sounding ignorant but im not that knowlegable about amps cheers for the help
