    Hey there!

I'm looking for a new practice amp for home use and I'm stuck between the Ashdown After Eight and the Ampeg BA-108.
    Which one would you recommend?

I have the BA-108. It's strengths are price, portability, mp3/headphone capable for silent practice and a decent sound at low to moderate volumes.
It can pump out a bit of volume but it doesn't sound great when you push it and will fart out at higher volumes so I would not recommend this amp for more than solo practice or acoustic jams.

I would avoid both of your choices, Johnlights. Do yourself a favor and take a good hard look and listen at Fender's Rumble 30 and 75 combos. Amazingly good sounding little amps at a value price. Do go somewhere and actually play through one, don't just read.
