Hello everyone.. I am finding myself, like many others no longer really needing to play through a cab these days. For the last few years most all my projects have been all DI\In ears. Which is cool with me, but I do miss the nice sounds you get from a 8x10. I have never been all that impressed with the way my overdrive sounds through DI\FOH\In Ears, so upon research, I came across these cab sim pedals.. I have tried the helix stomp and was not a big fan.. I just hate all the hoops ya have to jump through to change settings and prefer actual real knobs and buttons to press to get the sounds I like. Anyhow I am curious what would be the best way to connect this cab sim pedal (BTW looking at the Dunlop CabDryVR pedal) Right not I am using a Sans Amp BDDI deluxe which I have my compressor then overdrive to the input of the sans amp. Then I am running octave > chorus > BBE sonic maximizer in the FX loop of the Sans Amp deluxe. My question is should I connect the cab sim pedal to the input after the overdrive or place it last in the FX loop chain? Thanks every one.. All suggestions welcome!
Right I figured that should be the case.. I guess my question would be last in the fx loop of the sansamp or last on the input stage of the sansamp? Since I'll be using the sansamp DI..
If the FX loop is always active, put it there. Otherwise you'll want to put it after the output of the Sansamp then run that to a different DI to FOH.
I'd put it last in this case, since you have OD feeding into your clean signal. The most important purpose of a cab sim is to tame drive pedals, imo.
I’m surprised you feel like you need an additional cab sim with the SansAmp. One of their much-touted features is the built-in amp+cab sim. Not intentionally discouraging your sonic journey but you might find things get a little dark with cab sim on cab sim.
Yeah I spent several hrs tweaking the sansamp and I think I have a more useable sound. I did this all through my ln ears. I still need to test it out through our foh system to see if it sounds better. Hopefully it will sound good.. saving money is always a plus.
