help with fingering

Discussion in 'Technique [BG]' started by Freaky Fender, Mar 13, 2003.

  1. ok, i came up with some arpeggio chords for the intro, and i have to show them in... *gasp* tab..

    G-----11-------7-
    D----9--9-----5-5
    A------------7---
    E--10------------

Thats the crudest version of it, and i'll spare you with the repeat signs. but i'm using my middle, index and pinky for most of the note, but i know i should use my ring, any ideas on how to make this easier?

  2. Why not use the open D instead of the D on the E string? Then just use your index and ring fingers to play the rest of that line.

  3. well, they all have to ring together, after i pick them twice.

  4. If that's where you want the notes to be, then it calls for some not-so-easy shifts.

I'd say: middle, index, pinkie (to make the coming stretches easier), ring, middle, index, ring, index.

Nasty jump of 7 frets there within 4 notes.

Or you can play the first 4 notes as 1 position, then do a shift to play the next 4 notes as another position (may not work easily if you need to play the whole thing fast yet smoothly).
