I've been running a used Avatar 2x12 through a GK700RBII with great success, but I did have to replace the tweeter-horn's coil once already. I read somewhere that I need to set the tweeter at just a bit up from off or it will destruct; I have it at about 1/4 up and it's starting to fart and crackle. I turned it back to barely on and the sound disappeared. Anyone know about this? I use an MM Stingray and probably don't need any tweeter highs anyway, but I don't want to blow it out again. I play at modest levels, as I am always run directly through the PA.
You might have an older 212 with Avatar's first generation crossover, which did not adequately protect the tweeter from low frequencies, causing it to distort. Pull the jack plate off and compare what you see in there to the pictures of Avatar's newer crossover on their website, and if you have the older one, Avatar will sell you a new one very reasonably.
