I'd like to try building a bass for fun, and aggravation;)

I'm thinking early pbass/tele hollowbody body,
maple tele neck, with one early soapbar style neck pup, and one g&l type switchable humbucker.
Maybe two concentric pots: volume/blend, and bass/treble.
One toggle for the humbucker single/dual pole control, or can that be done with a third pot of some sort?
Finished in an early fender white/creme, but maybe semitransparent?

What are good sources for good parts, and maybe some basic reading to help me in planning and assembly, and finish?

    Thanks! Alan
