Help with Peavey Cirrus 5

    I know that Peavey Cirrus is much loved bass here.

    I love old school tone, but i am starting to think that a modern sounding 5 could be a great addition to my fender and rick 4 stringed basses.

    I tried some modern 5 and really like the Cirrus.
    Love the big and modern sound, the neck, weight and playability.

    Now i need to know which wood combo could be the best for me.

    So i downloaded the PDF manuals and read allt the Cirrus thread here-

    As said i love the classic fender tone, but i honestly think that my 5 will need to sound different from the classic tone. So i would love a Cirrus with a modern yet warm tone. I mostly play fingerstyle, never slap, love warm earthshaking tone.

    Which wood combo for my Cirrus? Cosmetically i love the dark topped ones. Like Walnut wnge and bubinga and i prefer the feel of oiled ones.

    I am thinking to a Walnut body, wlanut or wenge top and rosewood fingerboard.

  2. do it. you won't regret it. and $899 isn't an outlandish price for a nice, used cirrus 5. it's a little high. still, do it.
